May 9-11, 2002 at The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois Scott R. Lassar SCOTT R. LASSAR is a partner in the Chicago office of Sidley, Austin, Brown & Wood. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Lassar was the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois in Chicago. As the districts top federal law enforcement official, Mr. Lassar managed a staff of 250 people, including 130 assistant U.S. attorneys, who handled civil litigation and criminal investigations and prosecutions involving white collar fraud, public corruption, narcotics trafficking and violent crime. While serving as United States Attorney, Mr. Lassar personally tried several cases, including the ADM price fixing case, for which Mr. Lassar received the Department of Justices highest award. Mr. Lassar has tried over 35 cases in federal court as a prosecutor and in private practice, including trials involving securities and commodity trading, accountants liability, trade secrets, and federal criminal violations. Mr. Lassar has also represented clients in arbitrations involving health care and international insurance contracts. Mr. Lassar served as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Criminal Law and Criminology at Northwestern Law School. He is a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. Mr. Lassar practices in the areas of Accountant Liability, Corporate Criminal Defense and Internal Investigations, Economic & Regulatory Litigation, Intellectual Property and Litigation. He received a J.D. from Northwestern University and a B.A. from Oberlin College.
