May 9-11, 2002 at The John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois William J. Cook Bill focuses his practice at Freeborn & Peters (www.freebornpeters.com) on intellectual property, information technology, e-commerce counseling and litigation. His extensive legal experience includes sixteen years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney where he prosecuted computer and telecommunications technology fraud and the illegal transfer of controlled technologies from the United States. He has lectured and written extensively on computer and telecommunication laws, vulnerabilities and pro-active counter-measures and criminal and civil liability for misappropriation of intellectual property. He is currently drafting the ABA's Computer Prosecution Manual, due out in early 2003. He teaches Internet and Web Law as an Adjunct Professor at the University of Illinois Law School (Champaign/Urbana). He received his BA from Creighton University and his JD from Creighton Law School. He is a member of the Illinois Bar, the Nebraska Bar, the United States Court of Appeals, Sixth and Seventh Circuits and the United States Supreme Court.
